Pre Match Superstition: Put on all my gear in the right order

David J. Cooke

What can you say about Cookie?...A master of what was the old junior level of mens cricket in Leinster for many a season. Closing in on 1,000 wkts for the club.

In recent years 'Cookie' has stepped upto the plate and in the 2008 season this YM stalwart captained a raw inexperienced but talented bunch in the 3rd XI. After a horrible start to the season, he master-minded the rest of the summer by winning 5 of the last 6 league matches to finish mid-table and take them to the semi-final of the Middle 2 Cup.
Still ever-dependable with the ball he was the 2nd top wicket taker for the team.

In 2010 and 2011 under the captaincy of his close friend Derek Dockrell he opened the bowling for the 3rds as they gained successive promotions from division 8 to 6 and was a member of the 2010 Middle 2 Cup Final team where they were beaten by Leinster.
He also guided the 4th XI to promotion from division 10 in their 1st attempt in 2011.

A senior umpire and member of the famous Leprechauns CC, the 'Cookie All Stars' is dedicated to his long service at YMCA CC.
