All remaining parts of the
Children First Act, 2015 (the "
Act") were fully enacted into Law in Ireland on 11 December 2017. The scope of the Act placed an obligation on the Club to prepare a
Child Safeguarding Statement in conformity with the new legislation. The Club adopted on 11 March 2018 a new
Child Safeguarding Statement which replaced the old YMCA Youth Policy and Child Safeguarding Statement dated 20th April 2015.
The new Child Safeguarding Statement was prepared with reference to the underlying legislation, the
Children First Act 2015, Tusla's publication
Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, together with Tusla's
Guidance on Developing a Child Safeguarding Statement.
To assist users of the Club's
Child Safeguarding Statement, Staff, Volunterers, Members, Parents etc., the Club undertakes therein to make available on the Club website the following documents:
- Cricket Ireland Child Safeguarding Policy and Guide
- Children First Act, 2015
- Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012
Reference is also made to the Club Designated Liaison Person having knowledge of the Our Duty to Care | The principles of good practice for the protection of children and young people as published by the Department of Health & Children.
