at Claremont Road, Sandymount

The opening league game for the 3rd XI saw a lot of new faces take to the field in what turned out to be a tough baptisim ending with a big defeat.
Portlaoise were inserted and their top order raced to 100/2 off 19 overs. The YM bowlers stuck to their task manfully and competed much better towards the end of the Laois innings. Sonny Singh was the pick of the bowlers taking 5/39 including a hat-trick which saw the opposition bowled out for a final total of 233.
YM were never in the hunt and in the face of some fine bowling by their opponents were skittled out for the low score of 56.
Next week sees two fixtures for the 3rds and the chance for improvement.
