YM progressed to the semi-final of the Middle II Cup with a convincing 7 wkt win versus Old Belvedere in Claremont Road.
After winning the toss and batting first Old Belvedere on the whole struggled early in their innings to break free from tight YM bowling. Aman Singh 2/37 and Benn Hoey 2/36 bowling particularly well. The visitors rallied towards the end and made a competitive total of 203/9.
After the tea-break the YM openers Greg Thompson 58 and Niall Noonan set about leading the run chase with great gusto, running well between the wickets and hitting the bad balls to the boundary. An excellent partnership of 90+ set the foundation to a very good win with Niall showing great concentration and composure anchoring the innings to finish on 70*. He was ably assisted from camoes by Derek Dockrell 28 and Sonny Singh with an fine unbeaten 38* to earn his team a well deserved win and continue their quest for the Middle Cup Grail and Final Glory.
