Barclay Walker Award



J.Barclay Walker was one of the most dedicated officials of the Y.M.C.A Cricket Club for 25 years, acting in the roles of President, Hon.Secretary and Hon.Treasurer.
As a secretary he was very efficient and guided the affairs of the Y.M.C.A C.C. in a determined manner.
Living in Claremont Road, he was constantly on the grounds of the club he loved and served so well. He extended his abilities to the Leinster Cricket Union.
He was honoured for his work and reputation by being appointed as President of the Leinster Cricket Union .

As a tribute to his memory and his service to the Y.M.C.A C.C. the J. Barclay Walker Perpetual Memorial cup was presented to be awarded annually to the most promising young cricketer of the club. The first recipient of this cup was Pat Hade, later to become one of the most successful consistent bowlers with the Y.M. Club for many years.
His bowling prowess won him many honours in club and Leinster Provincial sides.
