YMCA Cricket Club caters for all youths interested to give Cricket a try or to play and develop their Cricket skills. Our Boy's section looks after ages 5-19 in a number of different categories.
Minor & Mini Boys (Minor Boys are 5th & 6th Class, Mini Boys are 3rd & 4th Class)
Our Minor & Mini Boys train throughout the spring and summer on Thursday evenings from 4.30 - 6.0pm, commencing on 19 April through to 23 August (19 weeks). Subscription is €160 (2nd Child €135). 6th Class boys may also participate in the Academy, starting in June or July depending on when their school term ends - see details under Junior boys below.
At Mini level, mixed teams partake in mixed "Blitz" events over the season. At a Blitz the team will play 2-4 short games (usually 6 overs each side) using lightweight equipment where the focus is on fun. All players get to bat and bowl in these quick fire games. There are no winners, just opportunity to play and develop Cricket skills.
Minor Boys are entered into the Leinster Youth Minor League and Cup. Matches are played throughout the season starting in May. Most matches are 20 overs, played on a shortened pitch using a junior ball. Minor A's play regular 11 aside matches.
Junior Boys (Junior Boys are 1st & 2nd Year's)
Junior Boys train throughout the spring and summer on Wednesday's. During school term, training is in the evenings from 4.30 - 6.0pm, commencing on 18 April through to 30 May (8 weeks). Once the school holidays start, training moves to Wednesday mornings from 10.30 am - 1.00pm, running from 6 June to 22 August (11 weeks) as part of the Youth Academy. Subscription is €200 (2nd Child €170)
We have two Junior Boys are entered into the Leinster Youth A and B Leagues with a single side in the Cup and the Gerry Duffy T20. Matches are played throughout the season starting in May. Most matches are 20 overs, played on a full pitch using a small ball. Junior A's play regular 11 aside matches, however in order to try and give all players a chance, limits apply to the number of overs each child can bowl and batsmen retire when they exceed certain number of runs, whilst Junior B's play in pairs in 10 aside matches where everyone gets to bat for 4 overs each.

Many of our Junior Boys like to do the full 3 mornings a week Youth Academy (as opposed to just Wednesday's). To sign up to this you select either of the two options below. (
the July start is only for those who are in 6th Class Primary School whose summer holidays start in July.)

Youth Academy
The YMCA Cricket Club Youth Academy caters for Boys and Girls from 6th Class to Under 19's throughout the school summer holidays. Commencing on 5 June, it runs 3 mornings a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) for 11 weeks until 23 August from 10.30 am - 1.00pm. Subscription is €375 (2nd Child €320).
The Club enters Boy's sides in the Leinster Youth U15A League and Cup and the U17 League. Whilst match regulations vary a little, they are played on a full size pitch with a full sized ball.
All boys who in our Youth Academy may be eligible to participate in Men's Cricket. Our Men's section train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00 - 8.00 pm and there are 4 sides that play in the Leinster Leagues and Cup competitions. The only additional cost applies for boys playing for the Mens sides, who pay a fee to cover the cost of Match Teas.
