Weekend Results 29th/30th August...

31 Aug 2009

The 1st XI finished off their season with a visit to Malahide and lost in an exciting finish on the last ball by 2 wkts (D/L).

Angus Dunlop rolled back the years with a well-timed unbeaten innings of 92, as he faced his old adversary the canny Scot Jimmy Govan.
YM totalled 200/9 from their allotted 50 overs.

Rain at the tea break led to the Malahide innings being reduced to 38 overs and their target to win was 174.
James Parkinson finished off his fine season with 3/27 and Reinhardt Strydom was equally good with 3/22.
6 runs were needed off the last over bowled by Warwick Armstrong.
Dot, 1, 4, run out, dot, single/with a run out chance begging...and Malahide scrapped home to the CHAMPIONS!

At Claremont Road on the same day the 2nd XI had a crucial fixture against North County 3rd XI
Batting first the visitors racked up a fine total of 223/9 from their 50 overs.
In reply YM lost 3 early wickets, however great knocks from Carl Hosford (86) and Stevie Walsh (46) who put together a fantastic partnership of 94 swung the game back in favour for the home team.
Their dismissals led to a nervy finish as 4 wkts gave the visitors some joy. But Dale McDonough-Kincaid and Neel Bhandari held their nerve and brought the team home finishing on 224/7.

With 3 wins from the last 3 games this should have lifted the 2nds out of the bottom 2, maybe 3? and thus avoid relegation...
