A brilliant all-round performance by captain Simi Singh led YMCA to a comfortable win in the final of the Leinster Senior Cup with seven wickets and more than ten overs to spare.

Winning the toss was also a crucial contribution, allowing his seamers to tie down the Leinster batsmen who were becalmed for several stretches and only reached 225 in their 60 overs thanks to a fine 70 by George Dockrell. Singh blew a hole in the top order, and ended with 5-57.

The pacey Tim Law rattled Tom Fisher's stumps in his first over but it was the last cheer their supporters had for a while as man-of-the-match Singh (66) and Jack Tector (75) made a winning stand of 131.

A classy unbeaten 58 by Sean Terry and a cameo by the evergreen Alan Lewis - winning his 11th medal, 32 years after his first - took the game away from Leinster.
