YMCA cup wins: some interesting stats…

·         Alan Lewis is the only man to have played on all 10 of YMCA’s winning senior cup sides, the first of which was 32 years ago. He also played in one final defeat, to Clontarf in 1992.

·         In all, 44 men have won a cup medal in our colours.

·         Ian Burns was captain in three seasons, winning the cup each time. He is the only captain to lead more than one YMCA cup-winning side.

·         Lewy won four man of the match awards, a Cricket Leinster record. Johnny Garth won two in successive finals in 1987-88.

·         Lewy has four centuries in the final, a record.

·         While the Tectors will be hoping to add the cup to their medal collections this weekend, there were two previous sets of YM brothers who played together in the final: Stuart and Greg Taylor, and Keith and Neil Bailey were all on the winning 1994 team. The Baileys also won medals together in 1986, 1987, 1990 and 1991.

·         Is this an omen? YMCA have won the cup three times in Castle Avenue, more than any other venue, and each time batted first and won by 222, 151 and 46 runs.
