Y.M.C.A. Cricket Club - Covid-19

YMCA Cricket Club | New Club Regulations in light of Covid-19
YMCA Cricket Club | New Club Regulations in light of Covid-19

It is the Club's aim to operate as fully as possible during the Covid-19 pandemic without compromise on the safety of anyone visiting Claremont Road or with any Cricket Ireland or Governmental requirements.

We anticipate during the 2020 season, that our operations and methodologies will need to change frequently, so please bear with us as processes will differ from time to time.

2020 Opening of Claremont Road

We have been back training at Claremont Road since 15th June, and hope to increase our activities as and when restrictions are eased. For now, the Club are running a mixture of Group Sessions and outside of those times, Nets and Fielding areas will be available for ALL members to book.

Please note that the last net session on a Saturday or Sunday will be at 4.30pm, however Kamal Merchant is available to facilitate sessions at 6.00pm or 7.30pm by appointment directly with him.

In order to attend any activity in Claremont Road, you must have completed the following:
  • paid or commenced paying your club subscription for the 2020 season.
  • be registered with the Club for the 2020 season.

The club will have "gatekeepers" operation at all times at Claremont Road. Anyone who has not complied with the above requirements will not be allowed enter the grounds.

The only exception, is for new members. New members must have registered with the club before arrival, however we plan to continue to welcome all potential new members to the Club for a trial session before committing to join and make a membership payment.

The Club online booking request form has a "Self Assessment Covid-19 Form" integrated into it and must be completed each time a booking is being made. Each member is reminded that they have a personal responsibility to take appropriate steps in order to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus and this aspect of the form addresses important aspects of managing that responsibility.

Our approach addressing the Self Assessment Covid-19 Form in Group Sessions will differ as no online booking is involved. Your Group Session coordinator will advise you of the relevant requirements.

Cricket Leinster would also ask us to remind all members that payment of your Cricket Leinster registration fee provides you with insurance for your cricket activities.

Men's Section Activities

The Men's section includes all Men's Full, Men's Student and Youths who have elected and paid to join the Men's section. From 29 June, Men's training will return to more normal times, with training on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm.

Group Session Activities

All other club activities will be held in groups as follows:

Girls Youth Monday's 4.30pm - 6.00pm

Robyn Lewis will act as the coordinator of Women's and Youth group sessions, Robyn has a list of all members who have completed the grounds entry requirements. If you have any doubt on when you or your child should attend a session, Robyn will be happy to help you. Jack Tector for the Men's group sessions.

Equipment
As a result of the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus, regulations do not permit the general sharing of Cricket equipment and all players will need to bring their own equipment for use at Claremont Road. Your equipment will need to be brought to and from the ground each time as use of the storage sheds is currently prohibited and during group training sessions, gear bags will need to be left, socially distanced from any other bags along the side wall of the ground.

For anyone who needs Cricket Balls a variety/supply will be available to purchase (at a cost of €10 each) at Claremont Road. Ed Sports, located in Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club, is the official supplier of equipment to the Club and other equipment can be purchased there or through his online shop.

In mentioning the requirement to take your gear home with you, it is also important to note that no bin collection services are in operation at Claremont Road, so it will be necessary for everyone to ensure their "rubbish" is also collected up at the end of a session and brought home. Please leave the grounds as you would hope to find them.
