More recognition for YM Younglins...

15 Dec 2010

Spare a thought for a select group of YM and Leinster Cricketers who will escape the freezing weather...

With recent record low temperatures sweeping across Ireland and the forecast of more snow during Christmas, the timing of Leinster's upcoming youth training camp in La Manga, Spain couldn't seem any better. Cricket Ireland Development Manager Brian O'Rourke & Cricket Ireland coach Andrew Leonard will be acompaning a group of Leinster cricketers to the La Manga Club in South Eastern Spain to avail, not only of the excellent sporting facilities, but also of the far more forgiving Spanish climate.

The La Manga club is world renowned for it's first class sporting and resort amenities and has played host to many other sporting organisations such as Liverpool, Chelsea & Real Madrid Football Clubs, and more recently Munster Rugby and both Armagh and Dublin Gaelic Football sides. On site there are dedicated cricketing facilities thanks to La Manga's purpose built cricket oval complete with four full-length practice nets. There is also a large, comprehensively equipped gym, a 25 metre indoor pool, numerous outdoors pools and extensive outdoor practice areas.

A select group of ten of the most promising Leinster underage cricketers will be partaking in seven full days of training & conditioning from December 15th - 22nd. All of these cricketers have come through the Leinster development programme and five of the boys have already represented Irish underage teams.

The squad in full is as follows. Lee Cole (YMCA), Callum Donnelly (YMCA), Benn Hoey (Terenure), Tyrone Kane (Merrion), Sean MacAuley (YMCA), Cormac McLoughlin (North County), Darren Nicol (Terenure), James Smith (YMCA), Patrick Tice (Merrion), David Watkins (Merrion) Coaching/Management Brian O'Rourke, Andrew Leonard
