On this day, 30 years ago in 1978 Y.M.C.A. fielded 4 teams in the Leinster Mens Leagues.

After finishing 10th in the Senior League of 1977, then called 'The Tyler League' the 1st XI plummeted to the very bottom in 1978 finishing in 11th and last place, winning 1, drawing 3 and losing 6 of their matches.

They fared a little better in the 'Wiggins Teape League' with a record of Played 9, Won 3, No Result 1 & Lost 5. They finished 7th out of 10 teams and won prize money to the value of £60.
In 1977 they actually finished joint 1st in this competition with both Clontarf and Leinster, but had to share the 1st prize of £300!

A look at the Junior leagues saw Y.M.C.A. 2nds finish as runners-up (63%) to The Hills 1st XI (79%) in the Senior 2 League. They played 12 games, winning 8, drawing 1 and losing 3.

Meanwhile YM 3rds (53%) finished a respectable third in the Intermediate 1 League behind Carlisle 2nds (60%) & Knockbrack C.C. (64%)
Their record was played 12, won 5, drew 4 & lost 3.

And lastly, wait for it, YM 4ths (84%) were runners-up in the Junior 2 League just missing out to The Hills 3rd XI (90%). That season they played 9, won 7, drew 1 & lost 1.

The combined results of the 2nd,3rd & 4th XI teams read Played 33, Won 20, Drew 6 & Lost 7.
