Albert Van Der Merwe is a former Irish International with 21 caps.
He made his Irish debut in 2010 against the West Indies A team in Stormant and his final appearance was against his native South Africa A team in 2012.
He was a squad member of the Irish team at the 2011 World Cup in India and his finest performance was against Kenya at the Mombassa Sports Club when he bowled Ireland to victory with match figures of 32.3-8-68-11 in February 2012.
Born in Bellville, Capetown, SA, he was first seen in Ireland playing for Derriaghy CC in the North, before he was snapped up by The Hills CC.
A leading player for The Hills in Leinster cricket his move to Claremont Road as both a player and a valuable member of our youth academy coaching team. Missed part of the 2011 season due to injury and returned to make vital contributions in end of season relegation battle.
2013 saw Albie lift the RSA Leinster Senior Cup as the 1st XI won the Clubs 10th Final defeating Pembroke at Claremont Road.
