Players
Rory Anderson
RHB, RAM;
Rory attends St.Andrew's College in Booterstown and has been one of the success stories of the YMCA youth development programme.
A steady opening bowler who bowls in that 'corridor of uncertainty' he will only get better and better. His batting improved during this season (2008) and once he gets stronger he can kick on and aim for a 1st team spot in the near future.
Neel Bhandari
RHB, LB;
Athletic fielder.
Impressed in the title winning YMCA 2nds of 2000 who won the Leinster Senior 3 League and is vital in the push for promotion as the 2nd XI aim for promotion this year and the next and the next...stop the press, he is getting married during the summer...another player lost
James Fitzgerald
WK, RHB, 12TH MAN FOR IRELAND;
James currently resides in Dubai, working for the ICC as Spokesman, Media & Communications Manager etc etc etc.
This former cricket correspondent of The Irish TImes & The Kildare News returned home this season(2008) to help out the 2nd & 3rd teams but alas did not really trouble the scorers.
Is quite easily the biggest name dropper in YM history as names like 'Proc'(Mike Proctor), 'Big Clive'(Clive Lloyd), and 'Broady' (Chris Broad) slip out of his mouth as easily as the ball slips out of his hands in the field.
He is also a IRB Rugby referee no less.
YM Legend!
Wajih Iqbal
Dale McDonough-Kincaid
RHB, WKT.K;
Dale is a gritty, talented cricketer who has played for both the 2nd and 3rd XIs this season. Was a member of the All conquering King's Hospital 1st XI who won the Senior Schools Cup in 2010.
Kamal Merchant
RHB, RAM;
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Kamal is in his second stint with the YMers.
Played almost 100 first class games for Karachi Whites, United Bank Ltd, Karachi Blues and Faisalabad, where he averaged 27.10 with the bat and an impressive 23.80 with the ball in his hand. His one day bowling average is even better at 20.94.
Having previously appeared as the club professional during the late 1990s he is now back as 'Head of Youth Coaching', while turning out for the 2nd XI.
Also currently coaches and umpires 1st class cricket matches in his native Pakistan.
Chris P. Minch
RHB;
Another of our St.Andrews Secondary School pupils in the 2nd team. Tall elegant top order batsman who has yet to fulfill his undoubted ability and promise.
Much expected this season. Has to turn more 30s into 50s and more...
Fields like Steve Harmison.
Owais Ahad Qureshi
Sonny Singh
RHB, LAO;
'The Nawab of New Delhi'
After six years I finally started playing cricket with YMCA again last year (07 season or some of it). An athletic fielder. Good start to Second XI's season hope we win all the three tournaments!
Johan Van Der Flier
RHB, RAM;
Johan is a tall talented forceful top order batsman and meanacing bowler, former Wesley College pupil.
Needs to turn 30s & 40s into big 50s or 100s. Has the ability, needs to be patient and 'fill his boots'.
2010 is a big season for him.
Josh D. Van Der Flier
RHB, RAM;
Josh, younger brother of Johan also attends Wesley College. Only 15 years of age is a genuine all-rounder. Bowls a great line and length, gutsy batsmen and athletic fielder. Definitely one to watch and can be a top senior cricketer if he wants to be.
