A. James Short Member profile

Vice Captain : A. James Short

WK, RHB;

'Black & Proud'
James or 'Jammer' to his friends started his YM career in the 2006 season and is a top order bat.
Born and bred in New Zealand,the little island next to Australia, he follows a fine tradition of Kiwis like Bev Sweeney & Seamus O'Gorman that YM have taken under their wing.
Another batsmen more than capable of scoring plenty this season, in competition with a number of others in the team to see who can get that 1st century.
He is also in charge of team fines and if he doesn't mind me saying does an excellent job dealing with the rabble in the dressing room.

Successful Captain in 2009 winning Section B of the Leinster Senior League and gaining promotion to the new improved Division 1 for 2010 and quite possibly the first red head to captain YM.

Joint top wicket taker in 2008 with 22 wkts. BB: 6/18
Not related to the Great Australian cricketer with the same name.

Favourite Umpire: Gordon Black!
Paul K. Beacroft Member profile Paul K. Beacroft
RHB, RAM;

Paul hails from Blacktown, Sydney, Australia.
He joined YM after a spell with the Phoenix Australian XI in the Phoenix Park. Quickly coming to his senses he made his way to Claremont Road in 2005.
A genuine all rounder he has contributed quite a few match winning performances in his brief career as a YMer.
Angus R. Dunlop Member profile Angus R. Dunlop
RHB, RAO;

Former Irish captain and one of Ireland's most-capped internationals with 114 appearances (1990-2000), tall powerfully built batsman particularly strong off his pads. Scored 4 centuries for Ireland. Was a much underused and under-rated off-spinner. Fine slip fielder.
Scored an unbeaten century (101*) versus the touring South Africans led by the late Great Hansie Cronje in Castle Avenue, Dublin (1998) and an excellent 148 v MCC at Malahide,Dublin (1996).
Captained Ireland 40 times and was another major figure in the YM team that dominated Leinster cricket in the late 1980s early 1990s.
Best remembered for his one over aginst the touring Australians 1993 when Allan Border hit him for 5 sixes off the first five balls of an over. The sixth, we'll let him tell you...
In his final match versus Scotland in 2000 he scored arguably his finest innings of 150, finishing with a 1st class average of 43.07 and retired far too early and probably at the peak of his powers to 'put his feet up'...
Robert Garth Member profile - no photo available Robert Garth
RHB, RAM,

'Son of Jon' has recently moved from local rivals Pembroke CC where he tasted 1st team action. Brings more competition to 1st team squad and can bat and ball with ease.
Most likely to be seen practicing his golf swing on the outfield.
Jonathan C.W. Harte Member profile Jonathan C.W. Harte
LHB, RAO;

Former Bangor C.C. & Trinity College C.C. player who made his YM debut in the 2002 season.
One of the 2 Wesley College/teachers within the 1st team the other being opening bat Carl Hosford.
Consistent, dependable, ever-present and a bloody good player/team member which is not surprising considering the 6 months summer holidays teachers get.
Captained the club in 2005, the year the new shed was opened.
Benn Hoey Member profile Benn Hoey
RHB, LB;

Young Benn is the first genuine leg-spinner to come out of the Hoey Clan with a bright future in the game.
Already an U13 International Benn is the nephew of former Irish leggie/seamer Conor 'Beany' Hoey and grand-son of the Legend Gerry Hoey.
Oh yeah, he is the son of J.H. (Celtic and Munster fan) who was a former captain and player of YM 1sts, twice.
Carl R. Hosford Member profile Carl R. Hosford
RHB, LB;

Opening bat who has scored over 3,000 Leinster senior runs with 1/100 & 21/50s. Former Irish U19 player who played in the 1998 U19 ICC World Cup.
The other half of the Trinity College C.C. & Wesley College connection within the team and another one with plenty of time on his hands due to being a teacher.

Umar Jehangir Member profile Umar Jehangir
RHB, RAM;

Umar has been a revelation during this desperate summer.
With the ability to swing the ball, he can generate great pace and has it in himself to bowl quicker with the right approach to fitness and practice.
Not much to say about his batting or fielding, makes Warwick Armstrong look like Jonty Rhodes. Must improve this aspect of his game.
Has played for under 16s in Pakistan Gym Khana Club.

Ross Johnson Member profile Ross Johnson
RHB, RAO;

Ross is a very powerful batsman, very good fielder with a strong arm and can bowl either spin or seam depending on his 'mood!'.
Plenty of 1st XI experience he has not played much cricket recently but hopefully next season(2009) we can see him on the field taking teams apart which he is quite capable of doing.
Card-Shark, Pool-Hustler and currently running in tries galore for Wesley 1st XV.
D. Alan Lewis Member profile D. Alan Lewis
RHB, RAM;

Born in Cork, this former Irish Cricket Captain who won 121 caps (1984-1997) and is now a current International rugby referee has been there, done it all, and has the t-shirt(s) to prove it...
Was a major influence as YM dominated Leinster cricket in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
A man for the big occasion Lew can lay claim to the following;
- youngest player (aged 20) to score a century in a Leinster Senior Cup Final (1984).
- most M-O-M awards in Leinster Senior Cricket with 13.
- only Irish player to win M-O-M awards in both the Benson & Hedges Cup and Nat West Trophy.
- in 1984 became the 1st Irish-born player to score 1000 runs in a season.
- first class average of 53.33
- 1st ball duck on his Irish debut: ct Joel 'Big Bird' Garner b Larry Gomes.
- captained Ireland 35 times.
- officiated in the 2003 & 2007 Rugby World Cups, Six Nations & Tri Nations.

And the hits just keep on spinning...

Rob M. Nandi Member profile Rob M. Nandi
RHB, RAO;

Rob is a recent signing from The Phoenix C.C. and made his debut in the first game of the season against The Hills C.C.
One of the all-stars in the Southern Hemisphere dominated Phoenix team, he has come to Claremont Road to win trophies something that eluded the park side.
Yet to be given a nickname, but that will soon change...answers on a postcard to...
Steven Walsh Member profile Steven Walsh
WK, RHB, RAM;

Stevie is another who has played 1st XI cricket. Can bat, bowl and keep wicket with ease but has not played much cricket in recent years. A good season of constant cricket would be good for both him and YM as he could show his genuine talent and you never know he might just enjoy it.
Simon B. Wilson-Moore Member profile - no photo available Simon B. Wilson-Moore
RHB, RAM;

Former 1st XI Captain, Simon is a consistent performer with both bat and ball.
Born in South Africa, he is an unusual 'Afrikkaner' as he has a quiet persona preferring to let his actions on the field speak for him.
Has played some fine knocks for the 1st team and is more than capable of recording his maiden ton for the club this season...
