Merrion won the toss and decided to have a bat first. We had hoped to put them in anyway so both teams seemed pleased.
The wicket played slow and low and the YM bowlers took to their task and apart from a patient 44 from their opener Watkins, the other Merrion batsmen struggled to get away from economical YM bowling.
68/2 became 137/9 as Kamal Merchant (3/26), Neel Bhandari (2/25), Rory Anderson (2/31) and Tim Shannon (2/36) all bowling 10 overs each, toiled away admirably.
The only bleamishes came from the 10th wicket partnership of 45 and the dreaded wides (25) which we seem to bowl week in, week out.
A final total of 182/9 for the home side was a disappointment for the Young Men Of Claremont Road.

After Tea the chase was on, the start was cautious as the Merrion bowlers proved hard to get away on a wicket getting lower and slower.
4 wkts fell to give the home team the impetus however the middle to lower order dug deep and gave support to Streek (80*, 8x4s, 1x6) with vital contributions coming from Tim Shannon (21) and Rory Anderson (21*).
The target was eventually reached quite comfortably as YM completed a good chase to finish on 185/7 with over 6 overs to spare.
And the long run without a win was over!
