Match report YMCA 2nd XI v North Wicklow 1st XI

Deja Vu all over again. How mamy times have we said this about the 2nds this season.
Batting first on a pitch which had over 520 runs scored on it the previous day all looked rosy in the garden as YM scored 32 off the first 4 overs and the openers looked positive. A crazy run out put paid to that and soon after Carl Hosford (18), who got a very low bounce which gave him little chance, to be plumb in front, both John Souter and Johan Van De Flier who never gave themselves a chance and were removed cheaply playing across the line, the scoreboard read 47/4 from 12 overs.
Dale McDonough-Kincaid (13) then got his head down and was very determined as he put on 46 with Streek (22) for the 5th wicket on by now a wearing pitch taking turn.
He departed with the score on 93 after doing all the hard work.
Both Tim Shannon and Rory Anderson did little to trouble the scorers playing down the wrong line and after Streek departed YM had slumped to 104/8.
The home team had lost 4 wickets for 11 runs and there was still 16 overs to go in the innings.
The last 2 wickets put on 18 runs but it seemed too little and the fact that 13 overs had been wasted, it was a very disappointing end.
The last 6 wickets had been lost for only 29 runs, simply not good enough and that I am afraid has been the story of the season for the 2nds.

Lack of application to put partnerships together, to bat the full allotted overs and to simply get our heads down and bat and bat. Wickets have been given away to cheaply lacking character and fight.

However North Wicklow still had to bat on a wearing pitch...
Umar Jehangir bowled with great pace and Simon Wilson-Moore bowled very tightly. And when Rory Anderson first bowled dangerman Drane (17) and then Wilson-Moore took 2 wickets in 2 balls, the visitors had fallen to 40/4.
Wilson-Moore took his 4th wicket and Neel Bhandari got in on the act as North Wicklow were now 76/6. We had turned it around and now was the time to go for the kill.
All this time though Damien Joyce (23) yes another one, had dug himself in at the other end playing very watchfully and patiently. He was joined by 'Wiz' Hastie (18*) and they produced a match winning 7th wicket partnership of 38 to eventually win by 3 wickets and quash any hopes of the home team.
All the YM bowlers tried hard, with Simon Wilson-Moore most impressive returning figures of 10-1-20-4.
Once again though extras, particularly wides seem to get the better of the bowlers as 25 were thrown down in the wrong direction!!
