Match report YMCA 3rd XI v Knockharley 1st XI

Intermediate A League

After the torrential rain of Saturday, the match was switched to the mat with Knockharley winning the toss and batting. Josh and Numan opened the bowling with Knockharley moving into the 40s without loss after their opening spells. James Smith and Ryan Bailey were the next bowlers taking four wickets between them before Matthew was introduced the over before drinks (and getting an important wicket). After drinks Knockharley dug in and scored runs on a regular basis eventually making it to 208. Ryan took 3 wickets for 16 in 5 overs, Josh 2 for 32 in 8, and with wickets for JimJam, Matthew Quirke , Dale McDonagh-Kincade and Andrew Mowatt.
Batting, we lost wickets to a good opening attack with Daveed Meade being the main resistance. The middle order struggled and it was left to Numan and Matthew to score 18 and 22 respectively towards the end. Matthew played showed all how to bat with a sensible knock with text book shots. At the end JimJam was left not out without having faced a ball. It was not one of our better performances.
With next Saturdays match at Clontarf cancelled due to the Irish Cup, Kamal will be organising a much needed training session ahead of our cup clash with Rush.
