On a belter of a day, played on a belter of a track YM overcome a competitive side from the Park just nicking it with 2 balls to spare.
Batting first Phoenix racked up 233/9 in their 50 overs. Sonny Singh bowled well taking 4/44, Neel Bhandari twirled off 10 overs on the spin taking 1/23, (it should have been more as 2 dropped catches were spilled) and Prashant Pannu making his debut for the club took 3/45 from 9 overs as he bowled very well at the 'death'. Jonty Wardell and the captain Alistair Stone batted impressively for their 50s. A special note for Umar 'Jonty Rhodes' Jehangir who completed 3 catches in the deep!

In reply YM had the perfect start from 'Shami' E.Ahmed 81 (13x4s & 1x6) and John Souter (16) as they put on 100 for the 1st wicket. After that the Phoenix bowlers fought back and took 5 wickets as the home team slumped to 116/5.
But that man Sonny Singh 77 (11x4s) was to have the final word as he and Lee Cole 23 (2x4s) put on 93 for the 6th wicket to turn the game back in YMs favour.
This was an outstanding partnership and capped two great performances from both Sonny & Lee (who also kept wicket very well).
Both were dismissed near the end as YM had a little wobble, however the target was reached and a winning start to the league campaign was secured.
