Y.M.C.A.U11B v Malahide U11B
The Village, Malahide

Result: Malahide won by 3 runs.
(please note: each team starts with 100 runs at the beginning of their innings)

Batting first Malahide scored a competitive 187/6(-5 runs for every wicket lost) giving them a final total of 157.
YM bowled very well on the artificial pitch where wickets proved to be hard to get for both sides. The ground fielding was good and all catches were held, Harry Tector taking a particularly fine caught and bowled. Alfie Summers bowled very well taking 2/20 off his 4 overs and Harry Kirk bowling very tightly taking 1/5 from his 4 overs.

In reply YM lost 3 early wickets which put them on the back foot. After 8 overs the score stood at 124/3.
However the middle order pairings of Sam Streek/James Carson 24runs/no dismissals & Alfie Summers/Andrew Blair-White 16/no dismissals, pushed the score upto 164/3 with the last pairing of the 2 Harrys to bat the final 4 overs.

What this meant was YM had to score 9 runs and not be out.
Alas, it was not to be, although the YM batsmen scored 15 runs they were out twice to finish the innings on 179/5(-5 runs/per wkt) to give a final total of 154 and lose by the small margin of 3 runs.

It was a fine game and like the season as a whole every player played their part and they should be very proud of their season. They are a young team and have another 2 years at this level. Their bowling has improved, bowling a much straighter line and their fielding has been good all season. The improvement in the batting was there for all to see, however running between the wickets could be better.

They will be a force next season if they all stick together.
There is a lot of characters in the team, which always brings a smile to the face and some fine players.
So watch this space...
