Match report YMCA 24pts v Malahide 1 pt

There were runs galore in the Malahide match against YMCA with nearly 300 runs scored in 33 overs.
Irish international Mary Waldron and Caoimhe McCann both hit half-centuries as Malahide made 145 for 5.
McCann struck 8 fours and a six in a fluent 54 from just 31 balls, sharing a second-wicket stand of 92 with Waldron who struck six boundaries in her 51.
Roisin Staunton (4-27) was the stand-out performer with the ball for YMCA.
What looked a potentially very challenging chase became a stroll in the park thanks to pyrotechnics from the in-form Gaby Lewis.
The teenage superstar smashed 9 fours and 3 sixes in a whirlwind undefeated 75 from just 37 deliveries as YM sealed an 8-wicket win.
She shared an opening stand of 106 with Jenny Gray (23), while Robyn Lewis (17) and Lucy O’Reilly (12*) also chipped in.
Mary Waldron wasn’t too despondent afterward, acknowledging the power and timing of Lewis.
“Caoimhe batted really well - she struck the ball nicely and put away the bad ball for us, but our total of 146 was probably below par with quite short boundaries.
“Gaby batted with great intent and hit well over the top nicely from the start.
“Malahide’s young bowling attack came back well but it was too late.”
