'Fly me to Paris and I'll come back a run-machine'...

What did happen in that city of love and romance? We all know Stuart McCready is and has always been a top player but even this latest innings most be up their with some of his best. Makes you think something special must of happened over in Paris, did he pop the question to his second true love (after cricket of course) Nicola...?

Anyhow, little did we know that when Old Belvedere won the toss and decided to field what was to unfold. Chris Minch (37) opened the innings with Stu Mac on a slow watchful wicket. Great running between the wickets from this pair with plenty of boundaries were to be the highlight of an opening stand of 106 in just under 25 overs. Johan Van De Flier (26) came in next to join Smacker and kept up the run-rate with a stand of 71 in the next 10 overs. Then 3 wickets fell in 1 over and the score stood at 177/4. It was then that the fireworks really exploded as the last 10 overs realised 118 runs with Smacker batting the whole innings to finish on 207* (24x4s, 6x6s) with shots all around the ground and some very big sixes. Sheer Brilliance.

In response Old Belvedere had no answer to Umar Jehangir who blitzed their batting taking a personal-best of 8/16 as they were bowled out for 50 in 16 overs.
And with that no-one could even remember who we played last week...?

There was a rumour after the game that the club President (Ridge) had promised, out of his own pocket, to give €100 to the first batsman to score a 100 in Claremont Road this season...Could this be true? And what is on offer for a double hundred?
