Match report YM Debuts: Sandeep Sood & Sam M.Murphy.

First outing of the 2013 season for last years League & Cup Winners, this time under the leadership of Ryan K.Bailey, as they began life in Division 5.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first saw the return of Niall J.Noonan, returning from 2 years of travelling, to open the innings with Aaron M.Bailey. The visitors captain was none other than YMs Youth Academy coach Robert O'Connor steaming in from the Aviva End of Claremont Road. A slow and quiet start was soon shaken with the introduction of D.Lappin, a replica of YMs very own, the evergreen David Cooke, but far younger. First up he bowled Bailey and then had JJ.Cassidy stumped as YM slumped to 18/2. Captain R.Bailey steadied the ship as Noonan was finding his feet at the other end. The old fox O'Connor brought himself back into the attack to get rid of his counterpart and YM were 41/3. Michael B.G.Kirk joined Noonan and quickly got into his stride bringing the score upto 71 before he was bowled by Pullbrooke. Next was Kamal Merchant and after surviving a close call for caught behind, which vexed the opposition's captain, he kicked on, as he and Noonan posted the score to 100. Nearing his fifty Noonan (46, 5x4s) had a rush of blood and skied one to that man O'Connor off Rule's bowling. Lappin returned from the Wes Earl End to rattle P.J.Flanagan's quick visit to the wicket and YM were now 100/6. Scoring was slow but Merchant (52*) was given great back up by debutant S.M.Murphy (15*) as they created a partnership of 52 for the 7th wicket. YM finished on 152/6 from their 45 overs.

In reply, A.Bailey found an early edge off Rolfe's bat and clean bowled Ousthiuizen to reduce the visitors to 12/2. Flanagan got Delany lbw and YM were on top. Rule joined Taylor and they pushed the score upto 48 before the other YM debutant, Sandeep Sood got his first club wicket dismissing Rule who had upped the tempo. Taylor was playing his shots at the other end despite tight YM bowling and looked set until Sood got his second wicket with a dubious lbw decision. Leinster 75/5, which got worse when Merchant picked up 3 cheap wickets. Leinster 86/8. O'Connor and Lappin took on the YM attack and runs flowed from their blades until Merchant clean bowled Lappin to ease YM nerves. Teenager David W.O'Connor, who had bowled very well throughout, then returned to finish off his new coach, Robert O'Connor, who had played a near perfect captains innings and Leinster were dismissed for 119. YM winning by 33 runs. All the YM bowlers played their part, backed up by decent fielding and a fine display behind the sticks by Murphy.
