On a glorious day Wexford were given first dig on a decent track under a scorching sun. With very short boundaries the Wexford openers made hay whilst the sun shone and punished any loose deliveries that the YM bowlers too often threw down. With a 1st wicket partnership of 138 the visitors continued to torment the home side as they made a huge score of 286/6 off 45 overs.
Ryan Hohn picked up 3 wickets and David Cooke was consistent taking 2/27. Callum Donnelly looked good in spells and can only get better at this level. However in general the bowling was poor, the fielding average and the place fielding not up to scratch.

In reply and faced with such a daunting target YM needed to bat their full allocation of overs and show some appication and spirit. Poor shot selection (a result of little practice on the part of some players) led to most dismissals however they did bat all the overs and some players gave a spirited resistance, particularly Jack Tector (27*) and Ryan Hohn (13) as they put on 37 for the 7th wicket. A final total of 93/9 however gave the visitors a resounding win.

The 3rds are a young side, 6 of the players are under 17 and there is much promise. With the right guidance and application they will improve but they need to do the basics right to give themselves a chance. Fielding and field placing has to improve and is definitely top of the agenda.
